This fun activity is a great way to teach kids that foods come in a variety of colours and that a healthy diet involves choosing lots of different coloured fruits and veggies.

Draw a rainbow on the whiteboard/blackboard with your kids/classroom.
Ask the kids to draw or write as many foods they can think of for each colour, e.g. strawberry (red), apple (red or green), banana (yellow).
Explain that different fruits and vegetables have different vitamins and minerals in them, so it is good to try and eat as many different colours as possible.
Examples of coloured Fruits and Vegetables:
Red - apple, watermelon, strawberry, tomato, raspberry
Orange - orange, apricot, carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato
Yellow - banana, lemon, corn, squash
Green - lime, pear, celery, cucumber, lettuce, green capsicum, broccoli, beans
Blue - blueberry (not many foods are blue)
Purple - grapes, plum, eggplant
